Interlaken is located between two Alpine lakes and provides huge opportunities for the adventure sports lovers of the world, winter or summer.

SO accessible via the Swiss train networkwith frequent trains from Zurich, Geneva, Basel, Berne and Luzern and Italy.

You can easily find your way around this small city by foot or bike. Start with a walk along the shores of lake of Thun or lake of Brienz. There are plenty of great hikes in the area. Interlaken is a paradise for outdoor adventure sports like paragliding, hang gliding, bungee jumping, river rafting, rock climbing…And if that’s not enough, you can swim in both lakes (not all at the same time). Don’t miss the beautiful nature reserve, where the water is balmy and you can swim among ducks and water lilies. Cute or what. Lake Thun is quite popular for sailing and the lakeshore is dotted with fairytale towns.

For those happier on two wheels, there are great mountainbike rides around the lake of Brienz along which you can visit the waterfalls.

And winter presents even great opportunity for those hardy souls out there with access to skiing and snowboarding including the prospect of night sledding! Whew, I’m exhausted just writing about it.

On Interlaken's main street, have a look at the 150-year old Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel and don't miss the beautiful view of the famous snow-covered Jungfrau mountain There is a glaciated UNESCO World Heritage Site above Interlaken in the Bernese Alps.

After all that hyper-activity, if you have any energy left, you can stroll along through the centre of Interlaken and sample the fare at many of the restaurants and hotels along the way ending your weekend break away with some delicious Swiss chocolateto replace all those burnt calories.
